Environmental Education

WE BELIEVE   in being life-long learners.  At Camp we offer students and teachers the chance to experience education from another perspective, outside the walls of the classroom. Our environmental education program is a residential offering, allowing students to stay overnight in our lodging. Most schools take advantage of our three-to-five-day program, while some decide that a shorter stay will work for them. After spending time at Oty’Okwa, living and learning together, students develop a sense of community, a confidence in themselves, and an appreciation for others that carries over to the school community and to their everyday lives.

LEARNING IS ALL-SEASON  and by using hands-on, inquiry-based learning methods that meet academic state content standards, our naturalists encourage students to explore, learn, and play in one of the best classrooms on earth – our private 737-acres of forest that is full of life all year long.

YOUR GROUP IS UNIQUE  and each school group visit is tailor-made for your needs. While we most often work with 4th-8th graders, we can adapt our curriculum for other age groups.  Our Environmental Education Coordinator works closely with your staff to make sure that you have everything necessary for a successful, educational, and memorable experience.
